Contrary to what is being said on the internet and other places, Rocky Mountain Anglers is neither for nor against opening Yuba reservoir to perch in 2007. This organization has not taken a position in the matter and is not "lobbying" for any particular outcome.
Our organization has supported the changes in walleye regulations for the year 2007 and has had representatives at several RAC meetings to voice this support. As far as the perch issue goes, individuals from RMA have spoken on the perch issue at two RAC meetings, but it was clearly stated that they were speaking as individuals and not for the organization.
Over the past several years our organization has been intensely involved in the improvement and recovery of the Yuba fishery. Our members have contributed hundreds of volunteer hours and uncounted personal resources supporting the DWR in the planning and execution of these efforts. RMA and our members have a deep interest in the long-term well being of this fishery, not just in one particular species.
